Oh What Do You Do?

What do you most love to do when all the world outside looks like this?
Today has been a rainy day. We have stayed indoors doing a bit of this:
Homemade Valentine's Day cards for schoolmates and family members.

Then this afternoon I surprised the girls and Jon with this:
A fancy party of homemade hot choco with real homemade whipped cream and buttery toast strips for dipping in the choco. It is a favorite treat of ours and perfect for a cold rainy winter day.
Here are the girls dipping their toast strips.
Crafts and treats make for happy girls.

What do YOU love to do on a cold and rainy/snowy winter day?

What a good mom you are! When it's drizzly out, what I'd really like to do is have the kids play quietly in their rooms(ha!) and curl up on the couch with a warm blankie and a good book! Rainy days feel like reading days to me!

I love to clean my house! I LOVE crock pot cooking, so having the smell of that in the house is cozy to me .... with my clean floors!

Today I am visiting a friend in Park City, and instead of rain it is snowing big beautiful white flakes. We went to lunch, and on the drive back to her house we waited while two big male deer with large antlers crossed the road. Not a typical sighting in Vegas - it was definitely beautiful to see.

Yummy, I never thought of dipping buttered toast into hot choco but now that I think of it it totally makes sense.

I too love to cook in my crock pot. Today I made split pea soup and curled up on my couch with a blanket and watched CSI. Under a warm blanket on my couch is my favorite place to be on a cold rainy/snowy day :)

Hi Stephanie - you don't know me, but I just wanted to let you know that you've inspired me to create my own blog. I found your blog by accident when I was searching for a pin the wings on Tinkerbell game for my daughter's soon to be 7th birthday and you had something along those lines on your blog for your daughter's birthday party. I just wanted to say hello and I will keep reading your blog. Your blogs are wonderful and inspiring. I just created mine today if you'd like to know a little about me! Have a great rainy day.

When the children were younger and we had storm days - and there were LOTS of them - we'd do some crafts, baking and special treats too.

I have a hot chocolate whipper that saw lots of useage. I always had mini marshmellows & sprinkles to fancy it up -- and a cherry for the top. I tried to keep a package of Pillsbury turnovers in the freezer too. (although the pastry tends to crumble when thawed)

We'd also read, play board games and watch movies. They would get a few hours to do what they wanted (usually vidoe games) but, for the most part, we tried to keep it a family day.

We also had a special "storm menu" and each child could order what they wanted from the list -- i.e hotdogs, burgers, mini-pizza, chicken finger & fries.

Thanks for reminding me of those fun times!!

What fun you must have had. My favorite is to curl up in an afghan and read or watch a movie. If I'm feeling peppy, I might bake.

I never heard of toast strips with cocoa. You gave me an idea..thanks! Love the placemats and all the Valentines. I love to be in the kitchen baking or cooking. Sometimes curling up in front of the fireplace with my 2 little doggies are fun too.

I think of a boy when I hear that name. Like Uncle Jesse from Full House.

first time here and I just wanted to say that my name is jessica and I was named after my grandfather whose name was Jesse. Today, many people call me Jesse. I also know a male jesse and it fits him well.

That is so funny. I grew up dipping toast in hot cocoa/chocolate milk. Everyone I've met thinks thats just so disgusting. I'm glad there is someone else out there that loves it too!
