News on the Waite Front

Some of you may have noticed that I have missed a few posts this week. I try to post everyday. The problem is that most days I have the time and inspiration for my post at night. The kids are finally in bed and my thoughts always wax more profound at night. This has always been true for me.

So it has been pretty hard for me to post the last while because I keep falling asleep before my kids do. That and the fact that from 3 p.m. on I have been laid out on the couch, my bed, or in the tub trying not to think about how sick I feel. Yes folks, I guess it is as safe as it ever will be to announce that I am expecting -- 13 weeks now. That makes my due date May 5. Wahoo!

We are very happy about the pregnancy. It has been really hard and really wonderful all at the same time for me. The hormones have just made the grief that much more intense at times, but the hope and work of creating a new life is healing. Plus the sickness, while it basically sucks, is at least distracting. It is hard to focus on your hurting heart when you just want to hurl.

As for the question I have been asked by all who know thus far -- "Do you want a girl or a boy?" My answer is a decided, "I don't care." I would like a healthy baby. If we are ever going to have a boy, this is probably a good time now that I have this big gap between kids. But I just love little girls. I would love to have another little girl. And I am curious about what it would be like to have a son. So really, I don't care or have any premonitions about that.

Jon on the other hand, well, he has informed the baby it is a boy. And he has a name all picked out. I just roll my eyes at him, his decision that this will be a boy, and his chosen name. I have heard all of that before from him - a few times.

So I still have a few sick weeks left. Usually I start to feel better between 14 and 16 weeks and then finally like food again by 18 weeks. I am just really hoping I am loving food by Thanksgiving. I really love Thanksgiving dinner. It is my favorite meal of the year. My parents are awesome cooks. I really want to be able to enjoy it this year. I should be 17 weeks by then so I am hopeful.

I will try to start posting in the morning so I don't miss days, but I can't make any guarantees. Some mornings, I just have to go wrangle my little loveys. Judging from the pounding on the ceiling, I think I need to go do that right now.

I'm so glad the news is out! I'm glad I have someone on the same roller coaster that I can talk to about hormones and grief. Camille and Lucy will never be replaced, but how wonderful it will be to have something so pure and precious in our lives again to put our energy into.

Vic is also hoping for a boy...though he would never fully admit how much. (But I can tell you--it's not just a little bit). Husbands are funny...

How wonderful for you!!!!! Don't worry about not keeping up the posts as often. Take care of yourself first and worry about all of us last.

I've been a silent reader here now for about four or five months but after reading your last post, I just had to speak up and offer my congratulations. I seriously got goosebumps when I read that you are expecting. I know it sounds strange but I think Camille sent you this baby. Of course not as any kind of "replacement" but just to help you move forward. I don't even know you but I am truly so so happy for you right now. What a true blessing.

I am so happy for you and your family. I hope you are feeling better by Thanksgiving. I, too, love that meal and that day. I read you everyday and hope that you don't worry about us Daily Scoopers missing you. We will survive. :) You just need to take care of yourself.

Oh do I know exactly how you are feeling with the nausea and the sleep. I too am due May 5th! Congrats!!

Congratulations! Just think Camille is up in Heaven talking to your new baby right now! How neat is that?!

I am about 10 weeks right now. This is my 5th child and was definitely a surprise because my 4th has just turned 6 months. I found out with my last pregnancy, that if I suck on some peppermint (candy canes last year and those circle peppermints this year) it eliminates the nausea for a few hours. It has saved me from throwing up a few times as well. I recommend trying it.
Congrats!!

Oh Stephanie, Congrats! I am so happy I checked your blog right now. I was feeling a little down and was actually on my way to take a nap, which I never do in the middle of the day, but something told me to check your blog and I am so glad I did. It really lifted my spirits reading your news. My 6th grand-child will be due on May 13th, so it's going to be an exciting month!

Congrats! Best wishes on the pregnancy. I wish you didn't have the sickness though. Camille is up there teaching this child all of the little quirks that you have as a family and giving "him" a heads up on what earth life is about. Girl or Boy, it will have a head start because it's big sister was able to fill in the blanks. Who knows maybe the veil will stay thinner for this one so that Camille can let you know that she is still there with you, that she still loves and watches over you.

Congrats again - - We love you!

Angie, Anthony, Araya, Ammon and Baby A coming soon.

Stephanie said...

Congratulations! So happy for you.

Jennie said...

Congratulations! I am thrilled for you both. My son was born on Cinco de Mayo as well. I really hope that the sickness will go away quickly. I am sick A LOT while pregnant as well- so while I have no tricks on combating it- I can sympathize with you. My best friend lost her 11 month old daughter. She had another baby shortly after, and would tell me how healing it was for her to have another precious Child of God. He certainly didn't replace her daughter, but I think she felt a closeness to her daughter through her new baby. I pray that you will feel the same thing. Just imagine the things Camille is teaching your little one about your family from the other side! Congrats again!

Congratulations! Our Jocelyn was born just 6 days after our little Evan died. The emotions are a strange mix, but the joy of a new spirit (and a lot of basic need fulfillment) distracts from the pain of death. I hope you feel better (physically) soon. Throwing up all the time is lousy.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WAITES!

I have never particularly liked ginger-ale and still don't. Yet during my very difficult first pregnancy, my body craved it. Wouldn't you know it was the only thing that settled my stomach! It's amazing how the human body sometimes finds its own remedy. I read afterwards that the ginger root had long been used in ancient medicine to help with digestive woes. Give it a try - who knows?

I pray that Heavenly Father will continue to bless you all.

CONGRATULATIONS! I am so happy for you. I hope that you start feeling better soon and that you can enjoy Thanksgiving dinner. What a sweet blessing to have a brand new spirit come straight from Heaven and with all the knowlege his/her big sister Camille can send with him/her. I agree with another reader, that you need to take care of yourself and your family and put posting on the back burner, and post when you feel like it and when you feel up to it. Luvs.

Have you ever tried natural ginger ale for the nausea? Canada Dry or the like won't work because it doesn't actually have ginger in it. But if you get a natural ginger ale (like Hansen's) it works wonders!

Good luck!

That is wonderful news, Stephanie! I hope the nausea is manageable. When I feel like I can't function at all, vitamin B12 shots really help! It's like a megadose of vitamin B12 and it's magical.

You crack me up how you think about food. I have the same attitude--in fact, I think I got it from you...hoping to not be sick for the holidays.

Congrats !! This is exciting news ! I am sure Camille will help usher this baby into the world. My husband did some research on the angels that surround our children and us and he found that they are all personages that have been here or will be coming here. And the angels have a specific relationship with those that they are ministering to...alright this thought is getting really jumbled if you have time you should look up this topic on the church web site and read what prophets have said about it. It is really cool...Congrats again !

Steffenie,
I have been a avid reader of your blog since I found it on Oh Happy Day several months ago. I haven't made a comment before this but I had to tell you that I am so happy to hear your sweet news. A baby who will definately come to you with whisperings of love from your sweet little Camille. That birth will be very sacred and you will feel her near you. God loves you and your family so much and now he is sending a piece of Heaven to you for you to love and hold. I am overjoyed for your family. I will be praying for you.
Oh and I too used Vernon's ginger ale during my first pregnancy for nausea. I don't know if they make it anymore, but an ginger ale with real ginger in it will work.

Dear Waites-
I too have been following your site for sometime. My little girl, Mara, passed away a little over a month ago from a brain tumor (www.maraadams.com). I've found your site inspiring and healing. Thank you for being so darn strong and honest. I am also friends with another angel mom, Deanna White, who I know you've been in contact with. I'm thrilled for your new arrival. Best wishes and lots of prayers for your continued well- being.

Congrats - what a special blessing!

I'm a lurker and I've been wanting to ask something - just your opinion I guess. I found your blog by accident, and have found myself many nights reading and crying, and blog hopping to over grieving parents and crying. I've never been one to worry, but I now find myself worrying about my three little ones constantly.

Do you think this is a prompting? Or just a nosy Mom getting emotional? Tonight at bedtime my four year old asked about heaven and when she would go there and I just started crying on the spot. I'm sure it was random but I can't help but wonder...
