Whoa! It's December!

This year was a quick turn around between Thanksgiving and the holiday gift scrambling madness. I can't believe it is already December.

Today I am grateful for wonderful new friends. One of my friends here has agreed to a kid swapping system that will let each of us have a few free hours a week to Christmas shop, go to the temple, or do whatever else we need. I am going to go get some shopping done.

Maybe I'll even find something for Jon?

My husband did the sweetest thing for my birthday. He wrote me 40 personal notes of why he loved me and hid them all over the house. I didn't want a big to do either so we went to dinner with some close friends and he surprised me with a trip for a couple get away a couple of weeks later. It was perfect.

My husband was the same way last year when he turned 40. He only wanted a small family dinner, and would have been happy if we had even skipped that. I ended up getting a large box and I wrapped 40 smaller gifts of things he really likes. His real gift was in the bottom, but he had fun opening all the little ones too. I didn't spend a ton of money either, some of the things I included we his favorite gum and snacks, I made a CD of a bunch of songs that we #1s the year he was born, a retro T-shirt that I found at Target that was similar to one he had as a kid, a thank you note for some of the things he was done and letting him know why I was thankful he was born, a little photo book of things we had done in the past year together, etc. I had fun and it didn't take that long to come up with the items.

He said that he really enjoyed that gift.
