Tonight Annie got to go spend some birthday money at Target. She picked the Shrek Movies. I told her as we walked to the register how I don't really like those movies. She asked why. I told her it was because they are crude and have lots of potty humor in them. She asked what I meant. I said they make lots of jokes about things like toots and the like.
She noted that her dad also thinks toots are funny. It is true. I told her I just don't like that kind of humor. She said, "Well Mom, Shrek is an ogre. What can you expect?" Point taken. So then I asked, "Well Annie, what about your dad? Is he an ogre then too?"
Her reply -- "Well, maybe half an ogre. He doesn't look like one but ..."
I just had to laugh. This girl's mind just makes me smile.

Oh, that Annie is TOO funny! :o)
I feel the same way about those movies and wouldn't let my children watch them after I saw the first one. Then a couple of years ago my oldest was shown one at school for a Christmas treat! I complained to the school and all they said was 'It's a U certificate.' - Not sure what that's equivalent to but they looked at me as if I was from another planet when I said I didn't want him to watch things like that and especially at school which makes it acceptable to him because it's school. I haven't found anyone else who is bothered by it until now - that's my excuse for waffling on about it anyway. x
oh stepahanie, you have been blessed with a house full of beautiful little princesses... you are in for a serious ride. lol... if jon has his way that is. :) boys are totally different than girls in that arena. you will have tons of poooting going on in a few years with noble and the new one on the way. my girl looks at my boys as if they are from another planet... im glad that annie has a sence of humor-she will be able to laugh them off. :)
Made my day!
My husband and I are frustrated with adult humor in movies that are geared to kids...I'm not talking about the "potty" language (I have three boys and a husband), I mean the sexual innuendos and such. GRRRR
