A night of prayer

Well the rest of yesterday was a VAST improvement from the morning. We got things turned around and peace restored in the home. I have to say nothing tempers the temper for me better than so really good music and my Mormon Tabernacle choir was performing miracles in my heart yesterday.

I worked hard all day and was just beat by 8:30 when I finally sat down. The two younger girls were just getting out of the bath and Sabrina had just finished the last of her homework. Then Lauren came down still wrapped in her towel... and threw up all over the floor. Luckily she was on tile. I am usually pretty good about throw up but my sensitive nose was having a hard time so I called in Jon. Apparently it was just that my nose was sensitive because we just about had a family throw up party right there.

Between the two of us tag teaming we got Lauren and the floor cleaned up. The older girls had to put themselves to bed as we nursed Lauren. At around 9:30 Jon went to bed. Lauren continued to throw up every 30 minutes or so till 4 a.m. Then Noble was awake and jumping in his bed till 4:30 and then Annie came in to tell me she had to go to the bathroom at 5:17.

Lauren seems to be feeling a bit better since 4 a.m. She has kept a bit of water down. I think I prayed the whole night that she would get better quickly and no one else would get sick. I don't know how we could do our trip to DC (which we leave for tomorrow) with the stomach flu.

Hopefully Lauren will feel well today so I can finish prepping for our trip today. And hopefully sometime today I will manage to fit in a solid nap.

**************************UPDATE***********
Ann Marie started trowing up at 8 a.m. Luckily she still had a relatively empty stomach and she hasn't thrown up again. Both Lauren and Annie are already feeling lots better (a little weak but no longer nauseous.) Now we are all just praying like mad that it doesn't hit any of the rest of us.

Have your well kids drink Welch's grape juice. Stephanie. A glass with every meal, and keep the meals bland. The Welch's makes the ph balance unwelcoming to stomach bugs. But you have to start it before the flu hits. It's only preventative, and only if you get started in advance.

Good luck!

Sue, that's a nice tip, but if you're wrong, that's a whole lotta purple throw up.

We always sip flat cheap lemonade for an upset stomach (3 Christmas days in a row!)and that usually works. Good luck for your trip.

Oh no, Stephanie! So sorry to hear about the kiddos illnesses..yuck!
(I'm not sure I would recommend grape juice or lemonade, but I'm a bit old fashioned. We always stuck to the dr.'s advice of ginger ale and crackers. But you've already had 5 kiddos..you know this stuff :)

Btw, please remember to get YOUR flu shot, Stephanie, now that you're pregnant! You're at a VERY high risk now with the pregnancy for H1N1. This year's flu shot includes that in it's vaccine already.

I'll pray the illness has stopped and will not spread any further!! Have fun in DC and congrats again on your new boy!! So excited for you!!

P.S. I forgot to mention...maybe this is all just food poisoning of some sort? That would be the best case scenario, since it comes and goes so quickly. (Usually, anyway!) I'll keep my fingers crossed again that the worst is over! :)

I think Sue means use grape juice as a PREVENTATIVE measure, NOT once someone is throwing up. There is actually some medical findings to support grape juice. Remember start drinking it 3 times a day once you've been exposed - NOT once you already have it!

Looking back- maybe this was why the disappointed post came about-if they were starting to feel ill but couldn't really put their finger on what was wrong. I know mine were stroppy and whiny just before they came out with chicken pox and I felt awful when I realised why they'd been like that.

Sue,

Does the white grape work that way? I gotta agree with the comment about the purple throw up. ha ha :) I always give my kids the white grape instead...especially with beige carpet! Good luck, Stephanie -- hope all is well soon and you have a good trip!
