Little Moments

One thing I wish I had recorded about Camille, were some of the little moments of tenderness between us. The joy in motherhood is most intense in small simple little moments.

I had one of those moments today. This time I am writing it down so that some day when this little baby boy of mine is a big hairy man I can remember the sweet little moment we shared today.

It was nearly 3 p.m. Noble had been asleep for almost 3 hours. That is exceedingly long for him. I began to worry as we mother's often do. But I told myself not to be paranoid and that he was very tired before his nap. Minutes later I heard his waking up cry.

As soon as I had the little guy in my arms he reached his hands out and grabbed my face and nuzzled down into me. It felt as if he was giving me a big hug for the first time. I could feel the love he had for me and it warmed me from head to toe.

I loved and kissed his little face and then he sat on my lap and held my hand and together we rocked. He was calm and peaceful and completely content to sit and rock with his mama.

This was one of the moments that make motherhood sacred.

I remember moments like that with my own children. It's pure wonderment when you feel them express their love for you for the first time!! Noble is so very handsome!!

Soo true! He is adorable. I love alone time around bedtime when I can take a moment of my busy day and give my undivided attention not only to my baby but my 5 and 8 year old! Taking some time to love on them and just appreciate them fully for being a part of my life. That is a gift!

And- reading your blog has helped me appreciate my kids more fully, so thanks!

You've got me crying. I'm expecting my third and looking forward to more of those little moments. My favorite is when my babies gives me their first pats on the back when I'm holding them. They've been patted their whole life and one day they realize, "this is what you do to someone you love." So sweet.

these ARE the moments that make life full, aren't they?
I was so happy to read this this morning. I love Mr. Noble too!

I had a moment like that with Charlotte while trick or treating. She ran up to me in her three-year old way, took my hand, and started singing the wonder pets theme song. Just that simple thing was so sweet, it made me want to freeze that moment forever!

First time commenting long time reader, last time my baby sat on my lap for comfort was when his grandpa passed away. Son was 14 years old. This year my baby boy turns 40 years old. Time passes way to fast.Little moments are huge blessings to remember.

What a sweet boy! This post made me think back to when you were debating names.

Look at him. The name Noble just fits him so well! So perfect.

...I'm still writing "moments" down even though my children are 24, 22, 18, and 14. You are wise to take the time to record the feelings and the sweetness. Every season has its unique tenderness pulling and shaping the texture of our heart. I love remembering the good that perhaps I might have forgotten had I not made a memo of the moment. Noble's little face is angelic.
