Advice

I think it is funny how so many of us have opinions (strong or otherwise) on labor and delivery. I thought I had heard all the theories on how to get a baby to come out after being overdue 4 times. I think my favorite was with Sabrina when one woman at church SWORE that taking a walk on the beach in the full moon would put me into labor.

I love that there are so many comments on my last post. Now for the record, I am pretty much a skeptic about all the ways to get yourself to go into labor. Nevertheless, some of these suggestions or theories are kinda fun and not going to hurt anything so I am entertaining myself trying a few of them out.

Sorry to those of you who said not to do the trampoline. I had already done it by the time anyone suggested it might be dangerous. In any case, I found it to be one of the highlights of my day. I had so much fun bouncing and having my girls show me their "tricks." They were tickled that they could do so many tricks that mom could not.

I am not too worried that it did any harm. I wasn't jumping high or anything and I am pretty sure if little Noble has any loops or knots in his cord it is due to his extreme sport movements inside. This guy flips and flops and turns all over with the best of them.

I also did eat pineapple yesterday. Not an over abundance of it but it was in my sweet and sour chicken dinner. And nipple stimulation -- well that didn't seem to work too well either. I would do the pickle thing, but I really don't like pickles. I would also totally do the teeter totter thing except that I don't know where there is a teeter totter anywhere near here. That sounds like fun though.

I am going back to my doctor today to have her strip my membranes or irritate my cervix one last time. That does seem to help move things along even if it doesn't put me into active labor. Then maybe I will take my husband's advice and eat lots of chocolate and go to a movie with him tomorrow.

Thanks for all the fun advice. It has been fun to read in all my spare time.

Oh definitely take the husband's advice! Get one more last movie in while you can!

You can't have him until 2:40 pm on Sat. May 9th. That way I can say I am the one who guessed the right stats. Good luck at any rate and we are all cheering you on!

One last piece of advice would be just to figure out what would make going into labor the most inconvenient. Then plan that activity. Babies love to show up right when you DON'T want them to! :)

I also did what Mckenna said.... HAHA... I had a Saturday packed full on my 2nd day overdue... and I thought... oh she'll probably come just cause I have all this stuff to go to. I had a baby shower for a close friend, a BYU vs UTAH football party, and I even hit the Old Navy baby sale! She came that night... after my bath of course. HAHAHA They come when they want! You know your body better than anyone else... have fun trying all the crazy things!

all I know is that making love put me into labor! It was only about 3 hours after and I was in active labor. It is a fun way and even if it does not work, who cares! :)

I vote for the chocolate and a movie sounds like a good plan to me!

If you can't go into labor on your own will you have to be induced? If they give you PIT I have heard it is is super painful and that you would want the Epidural. Does that mean you wont get to do it the natural way you wanted?

Book something really important at a specific time. Something you've been itching to do. Something you really don't want to miss.

Just when you're about to go...you'll go into labor. :)

I don't know if anyone has said this one cause I didn't read them all but have you tried eating spicy food like hot wings or something the hot hot kind? I heard that can help.

This is so much fun to read all of these suggestions!! I have to admit I have tried one or two of these during my five very overdue pregnancies. I'm 37 weeks with #6 and am fully prepared to go the distance and then some once again. They are all more than worth it!

I know it's not what you want to hear but hang in there. He'll make his grand appearance when he's ready. Despite the all crazy things we put ourselves through to "speed" things up, you'll be holding him in your arms before you know it!

Good luck!!

I was induced with all my kids...3 overdue...so I obviously can't help you with the things that help....all I can say is ENJOY it! I miss that time and am sad I am done having babies. Good luck!

Our second is on the way, so I'm glad to glean some info, just in case. But after reading everything thus far today, it seems like the baby will come just before the climax of the movie... :)

(btw, isn't it funny how many people are posting anonymously on the sex deal? I don't know about the rest of you, but those of us who have had kids, aren't ashamed to have our name/profile next to the words sex! hmmmm. Trollers perhaps?!)

My DIL says that once you strip the membranes you should go walk and walk and walk.

Good luck!

I felt the same way when I was trying to get myself to go into labor. I was bound and determined NOT to have to be induced and just googled natural labor induction there were soooo many different techniques, I seriously think I tried like 20 of them.

I did do the nipple stimulation, but that just got annoying and the accupressure points, drank gallons of raspberry tea, did a couple TBLS of castor oil in some root beer, ate 3 big cans of pineapple, went for a really bumpy car ride, did a lot of walking and had my membranes stripped. The good news is that I did go into labor on my own, but I have no idea if it was from any of the induction techniques that I tried or because it was just that time.

Babies come when they want, I just hope you don't have to be induced, both of my inductions were awful experiences for me.

Head over to my mom's house. She has a teeter-totter. But, if you do, be sure to take a camera too. We want to see. :)

Hey Steph...I have never heard of the teeter-totter thing but we have one here that is a big hit when anyone comes over to play...if you still haven't gone into labor and would like to try, just swing on by!
