I will not be blogging this weekend. My husband has a meeting in the Big Apple. Yep NYC! And he has a companion ticket. :) So I am tagging along. It is supposed to be really cold and rainy/snowy but I am hoping to enjoy the Christmas feeling in the Big City this weekend.
Our plans include a nice dinner somewhere, cheesecake, lots of good food (can you see the pregnant mind at work here?), the Met, maybe a show, a session at the Manhattan Temple, Rockafeller Center to see the lights, and a bit of window shopping. Plus we get to see Jon's sister Darleen and her new baby boy just 2 weeks old (yes and her hubby Seth and 2 older kids).
It should be a fun trip. I will surely post about it when we get home.
Enjoy your weekend!

Ohhh ... a weekend away sounds awesome!
God speed, Stephanie & Jon.
Out of kindness and concern you really ought to not advertise to the whole blogging world that your home will be empty for the weekend. I Just have heard a lot of weird things. Sad but true that our world can't be a happy and safe place always. I would hate to see something bad happen.
Enjoy your time in NYC Steph & Jon! ... oh, and enjoy the abundance of snow ;)
Sounds like a delightful, delicious time! Enjoy.
if you go anywhere go to to Chikalicious (it's a dessert bar) at 203 E. 10th St. Go before dinner, there is no line (otherwise it's usually a 45 min wait). It is gourmet so the portions are smaller but absolutely amazing.
Sounds wonderful! I have you have a great time! I love New York. Serendipity is a really great restaurant, with delicious desserts- if you're looking for one. :)
Hi Stephanie, I'm not sure if you've already left and this is too late or not, but thought I'd take a shot.
I'm a dedicated reader of your blog who lives in Manhattan. I'm so excited for you to come to the city! It is absolutely magical at Christmas time.
Luckily for you the rain and snow is supposed to only go through today and tomorrow, Sunday, and Monday will be sunny!! (Still cold, but sunny.)
Being a native California girl I can tell you spending some time in New York and out of the hotter temps definitely puts you in the spirit.
You'll have SO many wonderful choices for a delicious dinner. Enjoy! My favorite nice restaurant is Craft on 19th Street between Broadway and Park Ave, and as a bonus, it's only a few blocks north of Union Square where there's great shopping!
The MoMA is another great museum, my favorite out of all I've been to in the city.
If you can see the Rockettes' Christmas show I'd HIGHLY recommend it. It's so nice because it's actually CHRISTMAS, and not just generic holidays. There's even a live nativity scene which is very touching.
DEFINITELY don't miss walking up 5th Ave and Madison Ave, looking at the window displays. They are honestly breathtaking.
Enjoy!!!
Oh, I'm so happy for the both of you! A little vacation should be wonderful, I must admit I'm a bit jealous ;)
O.k We will let you go, but you must promise your internet peeps, pictures! Have a safe journey!
Darn....wish I knew before....I have things to send to Darleen and Jackson! Oh well, have a great time!
You don't know me, but I served in the same mission as your sister-in-law, Marleen. I stumbled upon your blog because of her "Remember Camille" picture. I was curious, so I started reading.
Now, a couple of hours later, I just wanted to tell you that the things you've written have touched me so much. Thank you for sharing all of these things, even though they have been so deep and personal.
The things that you've said have helped me to gain a better focus in my own life and with my own trials, even though my circumstances are almost polar opposites from yours. The Spirit is still the same and teaches us the things we need to learn. And your blog has been a blessing to me today. Thank you.
Have a lot of fun!!
I drove to NYC from Boston last Saturday and had a MAGICAL day! Have fun!!! You can't go wrong having dessert at Cafe Lalo!
ooooh that sounds fabulous. Enjoy it Stephanie and Jon!
Love,
Jane
How fun! I hope you get all the holiday goodness you can hold in your heart :)
You have a great trip and be safe!
