We have lots of girls in our house. I am sure you all can imagine the drama that comes with this occasionally. While some girls are more drama than others, all of us have our moments if we are honest. My girls are no exception. Once in a while each of them let their inner drama queen take center stage.
I have been known on occasion to call them on this. You know those times they are crying like they are dying when they barely have a scratch. Their main purpose for the tears and anguish is really to get the offender in trouble. Mom's see through this right? So, on occasion, I have used the phrase, "come on now, no need to be a drama queen. You are fine."
I am thinking I need to find a new approach. I have noticed my girls picking up on this term. One will be crying because she doesn't want her hair brushed and another will say under her breath, "drama queen." Then the cries just get louder and they are accompanied by anger at the sister for being called a drama queen.
The final kicker came yesterday. Jon was upstairs with the girls. I heard Lauren get upset. Then I heard Lauren's little three year old voice full of contempt and accusation say, "Daddy, you are being a drama queen!"
I think that was the hardest laugh I have had since Camille died. Thanks Lauren for being cute and three. And Daddy, thanks for being a "drama queen."

So cute! I laughed out loud! Aren't kids the greatest??!! :) Glad to see you got a good chuckle outta that! :)
My husband used, "no tears, no noise". Now my daughter and her husband use," Fake cry, fake cry". Last week when I was working the two year old over trying to guilt him into something he told me, "fakie cwy, fakie cwy". Smart aleck kid!
My personal favorite is the fake cry that they've been really working to perfect so that we'll buy it. Still not happening, but my 4 yr old keeps trying.
Love your blog!
What a cute story. With my nieces I know all about drama queen moments. We have them on a regular basis here.
funny story. we have major drama queens here. But I know what you mean about the way the kids use it after we say it a few times. It's hard to break the use of those phrases once they get started. pretty funny that she used it on dad.
That is too cute. And, yes I know about the "drama queen". How about the phrase "nothiiiiing", when you ask what they are doing? I say to my granddaughter, "I know what nothing means. I'm a girl"
It is all drama, all the time over here and we love it! Glad you got a good laugh. You deserve it.
What a beautiful picture of your girls... I know what you mean about the label drama queen. I didn't have a problem with it until I heard my mother in law calling my oldest a drama queen and I thought, I am not so sure I like the way that sounds! I know how I meant it but I am not sure I like it from anyone else but me! : ) Protective mommy for sure.... Julie : )
that is so sweet. nothing like the innocence of a child to bring the smile back on our faces
That's awesome! I love kids! :)
SO great. What a moment to remember.
That is adorable.
that is a FUNNY story about jon. i made sure to tell jamo so that he can give him a really hard time about it. and don't worry --- there is PLENTY of drama being the only girl in the family surrounded by three boys. i would know.
Oh dear, watch out daddy :) My two yer old has taken to saying "Bad mommy, bad" when I'm doing something he doesn't like. He got that from his sister.
Oh that is hilarious! We have a couple of drama queens here at my house as well, although I only have 1 daughter, and 3 sons. :) My daughter is a self proclaimed drama queen, and in her mind it's an awesome title. :)
Great story. I laughed right out loud! We get all the flack for being the drama in life but those boys can have drama as well. Glad Lauren was able to call her daddy on it. Araya has the "Queen" part of the drama mastered. We wonder what more she can do and worry about how it will be when she is a teenager when the real drama is supposed to start. Kids are the best!
Oh how funny!! I LOVE IT! Yes, we have some guilty drama queens in this house... guys and girls!
Your are always in our hearts and prayers!!
BIG HUGS!

I too have four daughter, so I know very well the drama that goes on in a house full of girls! Thank you so much for sharing your story and your testimony.
We know all about the "drama" queens in our household, too. Between the four girls and myself (yes, I'm probably the biggest one of all), our poor daddy has his hands full.
Also, congrats on the pregnancy. I am so happy for you. I told my mom last night that you are expecting, and she is just as happy for you.

I love the story about Drama Queens. I grew up in a house of only girls (5 girls plus my mom) and Drama there was!
