I think as moms sometimes the last person we think to take care of- even spiritually is ourselves! And I had to comment because I too have had SI joint dysfunction in pregnancy and with my last (who is now 2.5) it was debilitating. It gives me hope to know that it could be better with another pregnancy!Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09945755502266128869noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7260216734032540750.post-16640737862602877352009-03-16T22:01:00.000-07:002009-03-16T22:01:00.000-07:00A chiropractor made all the difference for me in m...A chiropractor made all the difference for me in my last(7th!) pregnancy. I had had SPD since my third, but this one was the worst. The exercises she had me do were just as Stephanie described, but she also did adjustments at my visits that worked great.Rebeccahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00104448383582282443noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7260216734032540750.post-65883943776587193502009-03-15T19:31:00.000-07:002009-03-15T19:31:00.000-07:00The more of your posts I read the more I realize h...The more of your posts I read the more I realize how much we have in common. I too am pregnant with my 5th so I can relate to the feeling of being over due! I think I had SPD with my last pregnancy and had no clue, I couldn't walk the last bit of my pregnancy (due to pelvic pain) and didn't know why. I'm super excited for you and wish you all the best of luck!!!!Heather & Greghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14545282090765293045noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7260216734032540750.post-17024841005849436462009-03-15T09:21:00.000-07:002009-03-15T09:21:00.000-07:00Kathleen and anyone else with SPD,A couple of thin...Kathleen and anyone else with SPD,

A couple of things that have helped me with this -- pilates seemed to help even though it hurt to do it. Then I ran into a friend who is a Physical Therapist there one day. She is the one who told me what it was that was giving me the pain. She said she could do a treatment to pop it back into place. I told her I would come see her that afternoon.

About an hour later I felt a pop in the front of my pelvis and immediately felt better and could walk. I told my doc about this and she showed me how to pop it back into place. The "exercise" she showed me is similar to some of the pilates moves I do when I go. So I think that is why the pilates helped.

The exercise is easy and worth a try if you want but it will likely hurt if you have SPD, at least until it pops. First you lay down with your legs bent, knees up. Have someone wrap their arm around both of you knees and hold them together then you try to open your knees apart. Do this for a minute then the other person lets go and you spread your knees apart. The other person puts their arm between your knees (elbow at one knee, hand at the other) and holds them apart while you try to push them together. make sense? Pretty easy. Free to try. if it doesn't help, well, I feel for you.

Good luck.
stephanieAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7260216734032540750.post-75318642745305638642009-03-15T08:52:00.000-07:002009-03-15T08:52:00.000-07:00I had no idea what SPD was, but I've had it since ...I had no idea what SPD was, but I've had it since about 17 weeks! I usually get pain in my pelvis area the last few weeks, but this pregnancy has been horrible. I totally have the symptoms for this and had no idea it had a name....I guess that even though there's not a lot that can be done for it, it's nice to know I'm not making this up. :)Kathleenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03437334053741020887noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7260216734032540750.post-87154808111790816172009-03-15T05:55:00.000-07:002009-03-15T05:55:00.000-07:00Stephanie,I have followed your blog for a long tim...Stephanie,
I have followed your blog for a long time and I am happy for the blessings that are being bestowed on your family.
